Last week’s card making session was such a lot of fun. They all had special birthdays and celebrations they wanted this type of card for; something with a lot of “pop”, and “pop” it does!
There are a lot of steps and processes in creating this card and even if some of the ladies were quite experienced, it was good to see they were eager to learn new techniques too.
They learnt about using craft foam to give dimension, and at the same time by using the foam, this allowed room in the card for the shaker elements to shine and move about freely.
They also learnt about the importance of working out design and element placement and how to transfer that onto the correct side and place on the card front.
Learning how to use acetate and how to affix it to the card and also how to seal the aperture of the card so as to prevent the shakers from escaping was critical.
The correct positioning of the partial number cut outs and the whole numbers cut out was another step, and this also involved using a die cutting machine and of course, using dies and the cutting mats and platforms.
Stamping was done, but this time stamping with an embossing friendly ink and then using embossing powder and the heat gun. It is such a magical thing to watch how the embossing powder melts and the image comes alive!
Finally, placing everything together, in the correct order and then making sure to seal properly around the aperture and voila! Some beautiful cards were ready and waiting to have personal messages added and given to some very lucky recipients.
We believe that the thought, effort and love that go into making cards is visible and the recipients can sense all this and appreciate it and that makes it all worthwhile for us to keep on creating, designing, making and offering to share our collective knowledge and love of papercraft.
